Over-all 15 hours programme with self paced, live and certification test.
These programmes are available for a minimum batch size of 20 participants.
This programme starts on the 25th of every month.
Target Audience
This programme is targeted for students in Engineering/Science programmes, faculty at such institutions and also for entry-level engineers/scientists working in organzations
Objectives
To train engineers/scientists on the basics of patents with core focus on the following topics:
- Accessing patents with ease: basics of patents and day-to-day skills of conducting simple patent searches, how to craft a basic search strategy, picking keywords for a search, advanced search approaches, etc.
- Improving ideation efficiency and effectiveness: how to quickly read and understand patents, how to leverage information contained in patents for brain-storming and ideation purposes, identifying novelty, identifying scope of claims, etc.
- Understanding when to engage with experts: at what stage should IP experts get involved, what information is required to engage them, questions to ask, etc.
Course Structure
The course is divided into two main components with sufficient real-world case examples to make the learning practical:
- On-line Teaching Sessions [9 in number] with clearly identified learning goals
- Live Instructor Sessions to coach participants on practical aspects and Q&A [4hr in total]
On-line Teaching Sessions (OTS) are designed with pre-determined learning goals for each module and are delivered as pre-recorded instructor presentations. These presentations have embedded interactive quizzes to ensure student is engaged in the session. Each session will last for 30 – 40 minutes. To successfully complete each OTS, students are required to pass a Session Objective Test (SOT) where they are tested on the learning goals.
Live Instructor Sessions (LIS) are held at prescribed times (normally on a Saturday morning) over the web where an instructor will cover topics from the On-line Teaching Sessions with core focus on answering students’ questions rather than re-visiting the content of the On-line Teaching Sessions. Students will be invited to the LIS only after completing all the requisite OTS and successfully clearing the SOTs.
